Rita was born and raised in Davenport, IA, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in art education from the University of Northern Iowa. She has also taken several adult ed courses under local watercolor artists.
Rita's work has been featured in numerous shows, including Two Rivers Art Expo in Des Moines, Iowa; Beaux Arts Fair in Davenport, Iowa; Quad City Artists Showcase, and the Fine Arts Fair at the Davenport Art Gallery, Davenport, Iowa; Women at Work, co-sponsored by Centennial Hall Gallery and the Women's Caucus for Art, Quad Cities Chapter, Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois; Art in the Park in Des Moines, Iowa; and was invited to do a solo show at the Bettendorf Public Library, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Rita has been a member of the Iowa Watercolor Society; Friends of Art, Davenport Art Gallery; and served as a board member at the Lincoln Center for the Cultural Arts, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Rita's passion is the realistic representation of nature, using the medium of watercolor. In each painting she uses the pigments to develop a transparency that gives the viewer the impression of 'stained glass on paper.'
Rita is married, is the mother of three grown children, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She and her husband have recently relocated to the suburban Chicago area to be closer to kids and grandkids.
